This strategy can
literally help tens of
thousands of women
readily turn away from
their abortion
appointments, and be
directed to a Pregnancy
Support Center. In the
name of Jesus.
First
employed in
Massachusetts in
1989-1991 in front the
largest abortion center
in the state, on nearly
every Saturday morning,
we saw 200-300 women turn
away from their abortion
appointments by their
own choices. Many women
went to Crisis Pregnancy
Centers, gave birth, and
a number found Jesus.
After nine months of
this witness and
worship, the hundreds of
college activists
recruited by the
National Organization
for Women (NOW) stopped
their counter
demonstrations, since we
"were persuading too
many of them."
The Brookline Police
commended our conduct,
and the Boston Globe,
other media and the
Attorney General could
not criticize it.
The SAU has been
restarted as of May 14,
2011, in front of
Planned Parenthood in
the South Bronx. That
morning, thousands of
people saw the signs,
and the response was
overwhelmingly positive.
Though we cannot know
how many women coming in
for an abortion or other
appointment turned away,
we know it happens. For
example, we did see one
young woman approaching
the Planned Parenthood
offices from the street,
then turn away
immediately upon seeing
our presence and signs.
We plan to work
closely with Pregnancy
Support Centers to
direct these women to
such places of refuge
and practical support.
These signs, the
Green Poster
and the
Yellow Posters
[scroll down for all 12
questions]), are
powerful in causing
people to think
reflectively. Any form
of honest thinking
intrinsically advances
the Gospel, and sends
the devil fleeing. In
fact, in 1989, when we
first started this at
Preterm abortion center,
one pro-abortion
activist said in our
presence to a fellow
activist, "These people
are more dangerous than
Operation Rescue – they
are going for our
minds."
The goal is to
organize the SAU in
front of every abortion
center in the nation,
also using the
Jeremiah 19 Liturgy (http://teinet.net/jeremiah19.html). As well,
we want to make large
banners. The first one,
as used in
Massachusetts, is our
one slogan, YOU
HAVE THE POWER TO CHOOSE
LIFE. The
second one would be one
of our questions:
CAN YOU IMAGINE
JESUS PERFORMING AN
ABORTION? WHY NOT?
These banners can be
seen a block away and
are visually dominant.
